A Quieter Summer Getaway in Yilan
Looking for a little room to breathe on a Yilan getaway? Come explore five places where rice fields, forest paths, and sea views invite a slower pace. Choose a few stops, leave time for a break, and enjoy the landscape as it changes with the season.

Sanqi Scenic Path — A Ride through the Rice Fields

Sanqi Scenic Path in Dongshan winds through working rice fields. The crop usually turns golden before harvest between early May and late June, giving the countryside a lovely seasonal glow.

The open views and gently curving path are lovely for a walk or a bicycle ride. Early morning or late afternoon can be more comfortable in warm weather. Stay on the public paths and leave the growing rice undisturbed.

Annong River Diversion Weir — A Waterside Pause

Walking paths, riverside scenery, and visiting birds give the place a gentle outdoor mood. Bring a light snack and enjoy a pause in the designated recreation space, away from the moving river.

Neipi Bay — A Lovely Place to Watch the Sea

Neipi Bay, also called Lovers’ Bay, curves along the Nanfangao coast. Enjoy the ocean view from public paths and viewing areas, with morning or late-afternoon light adding a lovely mood. This steeply shelving beach has dangerous currents and waves, so enjoy the scenery from well back from the water rather than entering the sea. If visiting nearby school grounds, follow the school’s access arrangements.
