Taiwan Holiday Calendar & Long Weekends: 2026–2027

Lunar New Year, Dragon Boat Festival, and Mid-Autumn Festival are three of Taiwan’s major traditional celebrations. Other holidays include Peace Memorial Day, Children’s Day and Tomb Sweeping Day, National Day, New Year’s Day, Teachers’ Day, Taiwan Retrocession Day, and Constitution Day.

Depending on your work schedule, approved annual leave can connect holidays and weekends into a longer break. A little planning can give you more time to travel at an easy pace.

Our LOHERB team has gathered the government office holiday calendar to help you plan. Days off for private-sector employees follow applicable labor rules and individual work schedules; extra leave needs to be arranged separately.

2026 Holiday Calendar

The 2026 government office calendar has nine breaks of at least three days. Mid-Autumn Festival and Teachers’ Day form a four-day break, September 25–28. Any extra annual leave is separate from these scheduled holidays.

New Year’s Day 2026: January 1 (1 day)
Lunar New Year: February 14–22 (9 days)
Labor Day: May 1–3 (3 days)
Peace Memorial Day: February 27–March 1 (3 days)
Children’s Day & Tomb Sweeping Day: April 3–6 (4 days)
Dragon Boat Festival: June 19–21 (3 days)
Teachers’ Day: September 28, Monday; part of the September 25–28 break
Mid-Autumn Festival: September 25; the combined break runs September 25–28 (4 days)
National Day: October 9–11 (3 days)
Taiwan Retrocession Day: October 24–26 (3 days)
Constitution Day 2026: December 25–27 (3 days)
New Year’s Day 2027: January 1–3 (3 days)

2027 Holiday Calendar

The 2027 government office calendar has nine breaks of at least three days, including the year-end break leading into 2028. Lunar New Year runs February 4–10. Dragon Boat Festival, Mid-Autumn Festival, and Teachers’ Day each fall midweek; extending those breaks requires annual leave.

If a midweek holiday catches your eye, a little annual leave may give you time for a longer trip. Arrange those extra days off with your workplace first.
